Vayu – the Dikpal of North West

Vayu is a Dikpal (guardian) of the northwest direction i.e. Vayevya.

In this sculpture, the god Vayu is accompanied by his mount gazelle near his left foot.

He is carrying Kamadalu in his lower left hand while holding Pataka / Dhwaja (flag) in his upper left hand.

He is carrying Ankusa (goad) in his upper right hand.
