Sculpture Information:

Dancing Ganesha sculpture is located on the outer walls of Siddheshwara Temple at Toka in Newasa, Maharashtra (India). The temple was built by Peshwas around 1767 in Hemadpanthi style.

Ganesha with four hands is riding on his mount mouse called Mushaka. He is carrying his ayudhas (weapons) in his upper hands – Ankusa (goad) on the right and Parasu (battle axe) on the left.

His lower hands are busy carrying his delicacy called Modak. We can see Modak in his lower right hand while there is a bag full of delicacy in his left hand. Looks like he is travelling far on his vehicle and got a good provision of sweets for the journey.

Ganesha’s one tusk is shown broken which follows a legend behind it.
