Trisula or Trishula or Sula is the trident which is the favourite weapon of Lord Shiva. It is represented in many forms and the essential feature of all these is the triple metal pike ending in sharp points and mounted upon a long wooden handle.

According to the Devi Bhagavata Purana, the goddess Durga holds a trishula among other weapons and attributes in her hands and among her accouterments, having received celestial weapons from both Shiva and Vishnu.

Many other gods like Ishana also hold trisula as their ayudha (weapon).
