Saranga – The mighty bow of Narayana

Saranga

Saranga or Sharanga is the celestial bow of the Hindu god Vishnu.

This bow is known to destroy opponents easily. It was wielded by Lord Vishnu, Parashurama, Rama and Krishna (all are Lord Vishnu’s avataras).

Lord Vishnu eliminated Mahishasur with this bow and also revived him back to maintain the respect of Brahma dev’s boon.

Sharanga is well decorated with gold and diamonds and was created by Viswakarman. Bhagwan Sri Ram had received it from Maharishi Agastya. Saranga is also known as Kodanda. Hence Rama is often praised as Kodandapani, the holder of the Kodanda.
