Khetaka is a shield either circular or quadrangular and has a handle at the back, by which it is held (PI. I, fig. 11). Sometimes there are curious emblems and devices depicted on the face of the Khetaka.

Khetaka is generally used along with Khadga i.e. Sword.
It represents security, defence, protection of oneself, deflection of negativity and assault by others.
