Amshuman or Anshuman god is one of the Aditya, the sons of the goddess Aditi sage Kashyapa. He is also known as Amsha or Ansa.

Anshuman’s identification with the Adityas emphasizes his role as a solar deity and his place in the celestial hierarchy. Unlike, Lord Surya, Lord Varuna or Lord Mitra, Amshuman’s is not prominently mentioned in scriptures.

Amshuman’s associates are Tarksya as the Yaksa, Rtasena as the Gandharva, Urvasi as the Apsara, Vidyucchatru as the Raksasa and Mahasa“kha as the Naga rule the month of Sahas.

In Vaishnavism, amsha refers to a being who is regarded to be a partial incarnation or a portion of the deity Vishnu. The term is also used to indicate the portion of a Vedic sacrifice that is offered to the gods.
