Lord Kubera Introduction:

Kubera is the lord of wealth and the ruler of the mythical realm of Alaka, which is said to be a city of immense beauty and luxury. Kubera is traditionally associated with material prosperity, treasure, and the protection of wealth. He is the god-king of the semi-divine yakshas in Hinduism`

He is regarded as the regent of the north (Dikpala), and a protector of the world (Lokapala).

Sculpture Information:

Lord Kubera’s sculpture is placed on the outer wall of Rajarani Temple in Bhubaneshwar (Odisha, India). Rajarani temple dates back to the 1100th Century CE and is the best example of Kalinga Architecture (Kalinga Panchratha Style). It is built in a Rekha Deul format.

The idol is standing in an Abhanga mudra with two hands on a Padma (lotus).

Young Kubera is carrying a Danda (staff) in his right hand showing his authority. He is carrying a money bag in his left hand which represents his wealth and prosperity.

Two flying Gandharvas are flanking the god with garlands and flowers on the top.
