Sri Chitra Art Gallery, also known as the Sri Chitralayam, displays a precious collection of paintings by the royals. Shri Chitra Art Gallery features a varied collection of classical and modern paintings. You can witness the beautiful works of Raja Ravi Varma, Nicholas Roerich, Svetoslav Roerich, Jamini Roy, and Rabindranath Tagore, to name a few. This Art Gallery has approximately 1100 paintings and you can see the display of works from the Mughal, Rajput, Bengal, Rajasthan, and Tanjore schools of art. Also, the art gallery has an oriental collection of paintings as well from China, Japan, Tibet and Bali which offer a visual treat to the art lovers.

The gallery has 15 original works by the Roerichs and 43 original works by Raja Ravi Varma. Ravi Varma’s rare pencil sketches are also displayed at the gallery.
